In the spring of 2000 saw fuel prices zoom to over $5/ gallon from mid to high $2/ gallon forced many of us to change our program. That’s when I knew that there had to be another way to stay on top of my program. “If the wheels are turning we’re making money” no longer applied.

Knowing what your program is doing in real time

The hardest thing for most any Owner Operator is knowing what their break even point is or the Cost per Mile to operate their equipment and everything that the truck has to pay for. You can take these expenses and set them up to be added automatically for the fixed expenses for a weekly or monthly bases. depending how you want your reports set up. I personally track the fixed expenses weekly for the main truck operating expenses and monthly for the personnel expenses that the company pays for. Or so that they match the truck companies settlement date or your payroll date. that way you will always know exactly what your settlement will be in real time.
